Current Version: 1.0.1.0 Download/Details

IMPORTANT UPDATE:
Version 1.0.1.0 has been released. This version includes a substantial upgrade to how application integrity is validated. But, these upgrades break the automatic updating functionality in versions 1.0.0.14 and earlier. Hopefully this will be the only time breaking updates are required. If not, if our files have to move, it's been designed so that only a configuration file update would be required.

  Manually Upgrading psTaskbarMenu

From creation of the Start button until the release of Windows 10, custom menus were added to the Start Menu (Start Menu folder). With Windows 10 they moved to a folder assigned to the Taskbar. Now that we have Windows 11 the functionality is missing.

We got tired of waiting, and the functionality changing with each new major Windows version, so we now have psTaskbarMenu.

Features
  • psTaskbarMenu is a Windows application that attempts to provide Taskbar Menu equivalent functionality
  • If one menu folder is added, the contents of that folder become the contents of psTaskbarMenu. If more than one menu folder is added, each menu folder is added to the root of psTaskbarMenu
  • Single clicking an entry expands/collapses if a folder, or launches if a shortcut/file
  • psTaskbarMenu minimizes when an item is launched
  • "Single Tree View" closes folders in inactive branches of the psTaskbarMenu tree

Privacy
  • psTaskbarMenu only accesses the internet to:
    1) retrieve current version information.
    2) download update files
And these endpoints are only accessed when you tell the app to check for or download an update.
Note: If your menu contains web shortcuts, psTaskbarMenu will launch those URLs in the associated app
  • psTaskbarMenu only collects Settings data, no personal or usage data is collected
  • psTaskbarMenu is free to use on both personal and business machines.

Installation
  1. Download the latest version of psTaskbarMenu (See: Download link above)
  2. Unzip the contents into the desired folder.
Note:This folder is for the application, not your start menu items.
  3. Right-click psTaskbarMenu.exe and select "Pin to Taskbar" (likely under "More Options")
  4. Launch psTaskbarMenu, select "Settings" and add the folder(s) you use to house menu items. They will probably be the menu folders you used with Windows 10 Taskbar.

Note: psTaskbarMenu requires .Net runtime 6. If it doesn't exist on your system, you will be pointed to an install.
